New exponential dispersion models for count data: the ABM and LM classes

چکیده
In their fundamental paper on cubic variance functions (VFs), Letac and Mora ( The Annals of Statistics , 1990) presented a systematic, rigorous comprehensive study natural exponential families (NEFs) the real line, characterization through VFs mean value parameterization. They section that for some reason has been left unnoticed. This deals with construction associated NEFs counting distributions set nonnegative integers allows to find corresponding generating measures. As EDMs are based NEFs, we introduce in this two new classes results. For these classes, which simple VFs, derive parameterization We also prove they have desirable properties. Both shown be overdispersed zero inflated ascending order, making them as competitive statistical models those use both, actuarial modeling. To our best knowledge, present paper, not introduced or discussed before literature. show can serve e.g. Poisson, Negative binomial), include numerical example data. example, compare performance relevant models.

15 صفحه اولDuration dependence and dispersion in count - data models
This paper explores the relation between non-exponential waiting times between events and the distribution of the number of events in a fixed time interval. It is shown that within this framework the frequently observed phenomenon of overdispersion, i.e. a variance that exceeds the mean, is caused by a decreasing hazard function of the waiting times, while an increasing hazard function leads to...
متن کاملExponential Models: Approximations for Probabilities
Welch & Peers (1963) used a root-information prior to obtain posterior probabilities for a scalar parameter exponential model and showed that these Bayes probabilities had the confidence property to second order asymptotically. An important undercurrent of this indicates that the constant information reparameterization provides location model structure, for which the confidence property ...
متن کاملNew classes of Extereme Shock Models
In industry or nature, there are systems subjected to a secuence of shocks ocurring randomly in time. these shocks are causing aging or failure of system. According to the type of shocks, shock models divided in two major groups, Extreme Shock Models and Cumulative Shock Models. In the extreme shock models just impact of last shock named fatal shock would be studied and in the cumul...
متن کاملThe ABM Template Models
This paper refines a well-known set of template models for agent-based modeling and offers new reference implementations. It also addresses issues of design, flexibility, and ease of use that are relevant to the choice of an agent-based modeling platform.
